It is estimated that around 50% or more of students who enter doctoral programs leave without graduating. (Bair & Haworth, 1999; J. Berg, 2007; Bowen & Rudenstein, 1992; Lovitts, 1996, 2001; Lovitts & Nelson, 2000).
These authors [Rudenstein (1992)] further report that, for many of those who eventually receive the degree, it takes between 6 and 12 years to do so.
